Light In Balance

The main objective of this project was to create a lamp with the expression of lightness. I experimented with different ways to challenge the perception of balance and imbalance. By putting a small metal weight into the backside of the cantilever arm I managed to put the point of gravity off the expected position. The upper part of the lamp is connected with two contacts, on which the lamp balances. The bottom part is made out of concrete. By flipping the cube forwards and backwords the light can be adjusted to be put closer and further away from the workspace.

Balancing Act

This loop demonstrates the balancing act of the light. The upper part of the lamp is floating on two pin connectors. It is even possible to remove the horizontal bar.
